My husband and I have been married for 18 years and have two terrific children. We are active members of Holy Rosary Parish here in Indianapolis. I am a catechist for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program. I am also employed by the church as a florist and decorator.
I have worked for Lumen Christi Catholic School for almost 20 years as a part-time art teacher and more recently physical education instructor. The classical nature, virtue training and the focus on the three transcendentals... truth, goodness and beauty are what draw me to this lovely little school.
As an artist, teacher, florist and decorator one of my favorite quotes is by Elsie de Wolfe...
“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.”
This quote from Pope Paul the VI in his letter to artists speaking about beauty is also humbling and profound...
“This world in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair. Beauty, like truth, brings joy to the human heart, and is that precious fruit which resists the erosion of time, which unites generations and enables them to be one in admiration. And all this through the work of your hands . . . Remember that you are the custodians of beauty in the world.”
