BA Communications Theory, MacMurray College
MEd Guidance & Counseling, City University
I consider it an honor and a blessing to be Lumen Christi’s resource support counselor and part-time teacher. I am on campus on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and I am available by email the other days of the week.
I worked for 18 years as a career counselor and guidance counselor in public schools in the state of Washington, and have experience providing academic support to students at all grade levels. I helped develop learning plans for special education students and led the program at my high school to develop accommodations for students who do not qualify for special education but have significant learning issues.
I have helped high school seniors with college applications and other post-high school training options, and led counseling groups for study skills, anger management, grief and loss, and self-harm. I also am trained in crisis intervention and was on a team of counselors who were called to schools throughout the region when a death or other tragedy occurred.
I have expertise in career development activities and wrote a 500-page manual that includes career activities for grades K-12. I created an award-winning high school career center and created a highly successful peer mediation program for students in grades 3-12.
I also have worked as a journalist and am pleased to be the teacher for The Bleat, Lumen Christi’s student newspaper. I also am teaching public speaking and civics in alternating years. I previously taught public speaking at the community college level.
My wife Tina and I married in 2012 and have three children; our two daughters attend Lumen Christi, as will our son when he is old enough. We worship at the St. Luke Parish in addition to Holy Rosary. Blessings to you all.
